Frequently Asked Questions
PAT can help eliminate pain in your muscles and joints as well as headaches that are caused by misalignments in your musculoskeletal system and neuromuscular imblances. These misalignments and imbalances cause postural deviations and improper movement patterns to develop which cause pain and decreased function. Restoring overall function in your body will also help improve respiration, digestion, sleep, and mood. Having proper postural alignment will enhance athletic performance and make activities of daily living easier to accomplish.
PAT focuses on aligning the entire body, not just where you feel pain and does not use any hands-on manipulations. This is a movement based, corrective exercise therapy which empowers you with the tools to manage your own physical health rather than having to be treated by someone else.

Most other therapies focus on the site of your pain or symptom and don’t get to the root cause of your problem. While they can be beneficial, they usually only provide temporary relief. Even if you’ve had any type of joint surgery, it likely didn’t fix what actually caused that problem in the first place. Your PAT exercises will restore joint mobility and function which increases the space around your joints, and improves deep muscular strength and stability, keeping your body in proper alignment, from head to toe for a permanent solution. You can still utilize other therapies while doing Posture therapy if you’d like to.
Not at all. Most people have musculoskeletal imbalances and are unaware of them whether they have pain or not. I will show you how to correct these imbalances before they cause pain. Having proper postural alignment also helps prevent injuries and speeds up recovery if you do get injured. If you’re an athlete or have a physically demanding job you’ll become faster, stronger, and more efficient. This can extend both your occupational and athletic career.

The teenage years are an excellent time to teach kids about body awareness and how to correct any posture deviation before major dysfunction and compensation patterns set in. This sets them on a path to be healthy and active throughout their life.
It’s likely that your postural misalignments didn’t happen overnight, so they will take time and commitment to correct. We are working with your nervous system to create new neural pathways to get the correct muscles working again, restore proper movement patterns and realign your posture. As your alignment changes, we need to make changes to your exercises to keep the momentum moving forward to reach your goals. We take posture photos, recheck function, and use your feedback at each visit to track your progress. The good news is that it will be easier than you think!
Most people see results at their first appointment. You may notice less pain, feel more balanced or stand taller. As you continue to do your personalized posture exercise menus your results will continue to get better and become more permanent as we teach your body how to move correctly again.

We will go over your posture pictures and discuss how it applies to how you’re feeling or what you wish to accomplish. I will have you do some functional tests to see how your body moves, and I will evaluate your gait to see how you are walking. I will ask you for feedback and what you notice throughout this process. I will get to know a little about you and what your short-term and long-term goals are. Then I’ll design a custom menu of exercises for you to do each day. We’ll go over the menu together. Your exercises will be available to you with pictures, video, and written instructions through an app that you will download. I will answer any questions you may have at any time throughout this process.
